Lean Management Accounting System – Initial Assessment

Is the company ready for a Lean Management Accounting System pilot? Do leaders, accounting and operations share a common understanding?

Engagement

Part 1 – Awareness & consensus on the Lean Management Accounting System

Facilitator rates each group based on discussion. Three groups need a common understanding and consensus before a pilot.

Key message: A Lean Management Accounting System is a system – it is the transformation of the current management accounting system into a lean management accounting system, not a single report, tool or template.
1 = No awareness · 2 = Limited · 3 = Some understanding · 4 = Good, can explain it · 5 = Strong, could teach it

Part 2 – Lean system assessment

Where is the company on its lean transformation? Ask what they are doing – just get an idea. Use the notes to capture what you hear.

Part 3 – Management Accounting System Assessment

Answer yes or no for the company’s current management accounting system. The more “No” answers, the greater the need for a Lean Management Accounting System.
